v Halesowen town

I would like to welcome the officials, players and supporters of Halesowen Town FC for this Zamaretto League Premier Division match and hope they have an enjoyable stay and a safe journey home. I am writing these notes before the Oxford City game has been played, obviously we are all hoping for a good performance and a positive result. Pre season has gone well for us although some of the performances and results were varied to say the least! I would like to thank everybody concerned for all their help making the pre season run smoothly, you were all a massive help thank you. My main aim as the Manager of Bedford Town Football Club during the pre season period is to ensure the lads are all fit and well for the opening week of the season. I feel the lads have worked really hard for the past 6 weeks or so, and have taken this on board. I felt the balance has been right between playing games and training, one that is always slightly difficult to gauge when you are taking a group of lads for the first time. There does seem to be some fresh optimism around the place which is always nice to hear, hopefully we can all fulfil this optimism! I have been asked where I feel we will finish this season, although I do enjoy setting goals and targets, without seeing the opposition so to speak I feel it would be wrong of me to predict. I am hoping the lads are beginning to have a different mindset towards training and games, one that is more professional than maybe in seasons gone by. This level is a very good standard of football, and to get where we all want to get to, we can not just turn it on and off. We all have to raise the bar and constantly raise our standards to be successful and achieve whatever success may be. I hope you all enjoy the season and please continue to get behind the lads, it really does help. Enjoy the game Ady Williams
